第三高等学校から継承されてきた動物自然史に関する研究・教育を行っています。 フィールドは大学構内からアジア。
現在の主な研究テーマは東・東南・中央アジアの爬虫両生類および小型動物の系統分類学、種多様性、生物地理学、保全生物学です。
